Jimmy Nortons Explosion - Peel Session
an interesting item for you all this evening(that i got from someone at work with the quote"here gobby you like all this kind of shite dont you?")is a peel session offering from 1979 recorded by Jimmy Nortons Explosion.no i dont think id heard of them either but they feature mr glen matlock on bass guitar and budgie from the banshees on drums.anyway they would eventually become the spectres.so there you have it.what else can i say except have a great christmas whatever you do and please listen,enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!actually i should also say big thanks to everyone who has visited the blog this year and left comments both good and bad.thanks to all the other bloggers out there for some great posts this year and i look forward to many more in the coming year too.cheers!

Babes in Toyland - Live In Osaka

the first time i heard of these guys was when i bought the soundtrack to the film 'repo man' on cassette years ago.i think they had 2 tracks on it 'hombre secreto' and 'el clavo y la cruz',anyway i didnt know much else about them and only heard occasional other tracks from them over the years.so its with great delight that i present you with this compilation covering almost all of their recorded output.its a great listen and if their version of 'la bamba' doesnt make you want to dance then i dont know what will!anyhoo please listen,enjoy and if you have a moment leave a comment.thanks!

The Specials - Benicassim 2010
an 11 track offering (courtesy of camden dave)from the specials recorded at the benicassim festival in spain in july this year.its from an italian fm broadcast so the sound quality is top notch throughout.But unfortunately you do get the italian dj talking at the start of each song.its a bit annoying though the music more than makes up for it.do the dog is a brilliant version one of the best ive heard.so please listen enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!

The Slits - Primavera Festival 2010
as a tribute to Ari Up lead singer of the slits who died yesterday,i present this gig recorded earlier this year at a festival in spain.there are 11 tracks here with a great version of 'i heard it through the grapevine' being a standout for me.this is a brilliant recording and i think really shows what a brilliantly underrated band i think they were.our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.
